6. T5icor Memorandum of Understanding update Tticor was in agreement with changes we requested to date including weight allowance and time changes. The CDL Preservation Group requested changes to the new handling guidelines, and SOPAG approved them. Subsequent changes to the MOU should be finalized in the next few days and sent to Tricor's Bruce Roberts for comments. Dearie will distribute copies to IAG members prior to final approval. Dearie also announced that Barbara Bulen will soon be the new representative for Tricor operational matters regarding the UC account. More specific language concerning the handling of materials by Tricor personnel was suggested for Appendix 7, item # 4. Nichols pointed out that it would be helpful if Tricor personnel and vehicles were properly identified. It was noted that increasing the loss and damage coverage limits in the MOU would result in overall higher rates. Action: Tricor delivery problem report form will be updated accordingly as MOU changes are finalized.
Our short-term and long-term investments consist primarily of high quality, liquid investment-grade available-for-sale debt securities. Our long-term investments include debt securities that totaled , 131 million at December 31, 2004, which have maturities ranging substantially from 1 to 5 years. Wherever possible, cash management is centralized and intercompany financing is used to provide working capital to our operations. Where local restrictions prevent intercompany financing, working capital needs are met through operating cash flows and or external borrowings. Insulin Pumps An insulin pump is a small mechanical device that delivers insulin into the body via a thin plastic tube: an infusion set. The pump is worn outside the body in a pouch or on a belt holder. The infusion set is a long, thin plastic tube that connects the pump to a small, flexible plastic needle or cannula that is inserted beneath the skin at the infusion site usually the abdomen ; . The infusion set is kept in place for two to three days and then moved to a new location usually this is done at home before coming to school ; . All insulin is delivered through the infusion set65 . The insulin pump is not an artificial pancreas. It is a computer-programmed pump that delivers either Humalog or buffered regular insulin in precise amounts at preprogrammed times. The pump must be programmed by the student family so it will deliver insulin when desired. Blood sugars must still be monitored by the user66 . Pumps deliver insulin in two ways: the basal rate and a pre-meal bolus. The basal rate is a small amount of insulin delivered continuously throughout the day, which should control blood glucose between meals and at night. Pumps allow the user to program different basal rates based on time of day i.e., to receive less at night ; . Basal rates for children can be quite small, such as 0.5 units per hour. Pumps can accurately deliver insulin in 0.1 unit increments. Pre-meal boluses are designed to cover the food eaten during a meal. Boluses can be programmed any time to accommodate changes in mealtimes67 . An insulin pump contains a small reservoir of insulin, a small battery-powered pump, and a computer that controls its operation. All are reasonably sturdy and should hold up to typical sports and play activities of child and adolescent users. Pumps have a variety of features, and some are even waterproof. A plan to address pump malfunction must be developed by the parents, healthcare provider and school nurse. Students may have symptoms of hypo or hyperglycemia but ignore them or blame them on hunger or another problem and not recognize that their pump is malfunctioning. When any symptoms occur it is important to test the blood glucose and check for hypo or hyperglycemia. High levels must be reported.

Stiff, painful joints: In diffuse systemic sclerosis, hand joints can stiffen due to hardened skin around the joints or inflammation within them. Other joints can also become stiff and swollen. Some general thoughts: Researchers in the resund region had a well deserved reputation of excellence in the studies of lipid oxidation. I would, however, make a few suggestions to them that we have found useful and they may also. I did not see indicated in any of the research reports that sensory evaluation was used. I think this is a most important area to include in studies of lipid oxidation. Our laboratory uses it as the primary measure of lipid oxidation backed up by chemical analyses. This has prevented us from studying materials that are changing in their chemical indices but have already reached an oxidation state where they are unacceptable in the market. The model systems work here has clearly shown that complexity of oxidation mechanisms increases greatly with each compounding variable that is incorporated into the experiments. We have found it useful to go right to the complex system the food ; to find out what the exact problems are and then work backwards through less complex systems to try to figure out what is going on. I have always had the fear that when one finally gets a good understanding of a model system, the model system may in fact have little relation to the real world and lipitor.

Serologic testing is needed for the identification of Shigella isolates. Serologic identification of Shigella is performed typically by slide agglutination with polyvalent somatic O ; antigen grouping sera, followed, in some cases, by testing with monovalent antisera for specific serotype identification. Monovalent antiserum to S. dysenteriae 1 is required to identify this serotype, which is the most frequent cause of severe epidemic dysentery Table 16 ; . Once one colony from a plate has been identified as Shigella, no further colonies from the same specimen need to be tested. Laboratorians should be aware that some Shigella commercial antiserum is labeled or packaged differently; that is, two packages with different names may contain the same antisera. For example, Shigella polyvalent A, which includes antisera to serotypes 1 through 7, may also be labeled polyvalent A1. Further, monovalent antiserum may be labeled such that it could be confused with polyvalent antiserum; for example, monovalent antiserum to S. dysenteriae 1 may be labeled "Shigella A1" instead of "S. dysenteriae serotype 1". Table 16 can serve as a useful guide for referencing which subgroups and serotypes are associated with what Shigella nomenclature designation. ; When using newly purchased antisera, the laboratorian should read the package insert or check with the manufacturer if the label is not self-explanatory. All lots of antisera should undergo quality control testing before use Appendix 2 ; . Slide agglutination Because S. dysenteriae 1 is the most common agent of epidemic dysentery followed by S. flexneri and S. sonnei ; , isolates that react typically in the screening biochemicals should be screened first with monovalent A1 antiserum, then with polyvalent B antiserum, and finally in polyvalent D antiserum. When a positive agglutination reaction is obtained in one of the antisera, the Shigella subgroup is identified, and no further testing with antisera needs to be conducted. Because subgroup C, S. boydii, is so rare it is not cost-effective to perform routine screens for it. ; a ; Agglutination tests may be performed in a Petri dish or on a clean glass slide. Divide the slide into test sections with a wax pencil and place one small drop of physiological saline in each test section on the slide.

CASE DESCRIPTION The primary subject matter of this case concerns human resource management, union organizing, and the influence of the political legal environment. The case has a difficulty level of four appropriate for senior-level courses ; , but would also be appropriate for masters level students. The case is designed to be taught in a maximum of two class hours and is expected to require a minimum of three hours of outside preparation by students depending on their background with technical aspects associated with union organizing. CASE SYNOPSIS The case could be utilized in a number of different senior level or masters courses including business policy, business and society, or advanced human resource management courses. The case presents the evolution of Cannon Mills through it's current incarnation as Pillowtex and details the 25 year history of union organizing efforts that revolve around different ownership. From the benelovant paternalism of Charles Cannon, to the maverick style of David Murdock, leadership at the company has undergone radical change. The union's efforts, in addition to changes in the political and legal environment further complicate the issues and present the opportunity for the discussion of a wide range of human resource management issues. FIELD CREST CANNON PILLOWTEX On December 4, 1997, Fieldcrest Cannon's Board of Directors met in New York for the last time. Pillowtex, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, would complete its 0 million acquisition of Kannapolis, North Carolina based Fieldcrest Cannon on December 19, 1997. The deal was expected to create a "new giant in the Big Three of home furnishings" and enhance Pillowtex's product line by adding some of the strongest brand names in the industry. The acquisition would enable Pillowtex to save an estimated .6 million annually. The savings would be generated from elimination of administrative and corporate jobs at Fieldcrest Cannon's headquarters in Kannapolis. Another .4 million was expected to be saved in the first year of combined operation by eliminating redundant operations, exploiting economies of scale in purchasing, and reducing trade advertising and the number of outside consultants. Speculation in the community and the local press put the number of corporate jobs to be lost at more than 300. Another very interested party to the December 19th completion of the Pillowtex acquisition of Fieldcrest Cannon, was the ten member contingent of the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees UNITE ; .
